Read More	Danny LeeHowitt Jan 30,1937-Aug 10,2011 Danny Howitt, 74, of Chappell, passed away at his home, Aug. 10, 2011. Memorial services will be Aug. 15, in the Chappell United Methodist Church. Inurnment will follow in the Chappell Cemetery. Danny Lee Howitt, the son of Lewis Fredrick and Freida Eliza (Aebig) Howitt, was born on Jan. 30, 1937, at Chappell. He attended the Chappell schools and was on the state championship basketball team in 1953 and the runner-up team in 1955. On July 2, 1955, Danny was united in marriage to Carol Lou Samuels at Chappell. He worked at the Chappell Post Office and helped his father in his construction business. In 1960 they moved to Denver where he worked as a brick mason before starting his own cabinet making shop in Westminster. He and Carol began Jade Manufacturing and ran shops in Colorado and Chappell. In 1973 they consolidated both operations and relocated at the Sioux Ordinance Depot while living in Sidney. In 1991 they returned to Chappell and began making and selling craft items as well as doing custom kitchen cabinet work with their son, Mark.In 2001, Danny became president of the Miller Memorial Care Center Board, later being named as interim administrator. He also founded and was president of the Miller Memorial Care Center Foundation. He continued to hold both positions at the time of his death.Survivors include his wife, Carol of Chappell; his children, Dana Howitt of Alexandria, Va., Mark Howitt and partner Candis Fish of Chappell, Lynda Howitt of Colorado, Nancy (Terry) Osborn of Sidney, and Lisa (David) Ammerman of Omaha; eight grandchildren, Jeremy (Jennifer) Thompson, Brandy Fish, Justin Hardisty, Dylan Fish, Hilary Osborn, Ryan Cansler and fiancee Kelly, Aaron Osborn and Zachary Cansler; six great-grandchildren, Damion, Julien, Carissa, Christian, Caroline, Reagan; one brother, Gary (Sue) Howitt of McCook; one sister, Cindy Cronk of Sacremento, Calif.; special aunt, Maxine Howerter of Chappell; and numerous extended family members and friends.Danny was preceded in death by his parents; and special uncle, Dale Howerter.
