Read More	Daphan Marie (Coltrain) Wood December 7, 1924 ~ April 21, 2020 (age 95) Obituary Daphan Marie (Coltrain) Wood, age 95, of Centerville, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2020 at Centerville Specialty Care. Daphan was born on December 7, 1924 to Fred and Mary Elizabeth (McCumber) Coltrain, who farmed east of Moravia, Iowa. Daphan attended rural Scattersburg School and graduated from Moravia High School with the Class of 1943. She was united in marriage to Duane Edwin Wood on May 19, 1946 in Centerville, Iowa. Following high school graduation, Daphan attended Iowa State Teachers’ College (now University of Northern Iowa) and later, she also took classes at Drake University and Centerville Junior College. For many years, Daphan greatly enjoyed teaching young children at various rural schools in Appanoose County. In addition to teaching, Daphan and her husband farmed, raised Angus cattle, sheep and hogs on their farm west of Centerville. Even after Duane’s death in 2005, Daphan continued to farm on their farm west of Centerville, but also her parents’ Century Farm east of Moravia. Daphan was also very active for many years in the St. Joseph’s Mercy Hospital Auxiliary. Daphan is survived by nieces, nephews, and various other family members, and friends. She was preceded in death by her dad on December 24, 1961; her mom on December 11, 1974; her husband, Duane on June 2, 2005; her sister, Edith Arlene Kendall on January 17, 2018; and two brothers. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 PM, Monday, April 27, 2020 at the Moravia Cemetery in Moravia with Pastor Jack Engle officiating. A visitation will take place from 1-2 PM, Monday, April 27, 2020 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville. Due to the Covid-19 restrictions, only ten people will be permitted inside the facility at one time. A memorial has been established to MercyOne Hospital Auxiliary and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544. Condolences may be shared online at www.langefh.com.
