Daphne Alice was born on November 19, 1942, in Marshalltown, the daughter of Henry and Lois (Stewart) Hudspeth. She attended school at Gifford, Steamboat Rock, and New Providence. On December 31, 1960, she married Donald Sears. They lived in Union where Daphne was a homemaker and bookkeeper for Don’s trucking and mechanic business. You may have seen her driving a truck. She was an active member of the Church of Christ and frequently volunteered at the Union Public Library. Daphne was an avid reader and a wonderful cook. She liked to sew and quilt as well as go to garage sales and collect Ertl toys. Most of all, she loved going to her grandchildren sports and activities. Daphne always had a smile for you. Surviving are her husband, Don; her children, Becky Vaughn, Joan Sears, Mark (Judy) Sears and Pam (Jeff) Thatcher; two sisters, Elaine (George) Haywood and Melody Stephens; her grandchildren; and seventeen great grandchildren.
