It is assumed the family pronounced it with an 'r' sound in the middle, thus the misspelling upon the tombstone. She married James Jerome on May 27, 1866 (Union County, NC) -- together they had ten children. Her obituary from the Monroe Journal (9-6-1921) notes that she was "quite a conversationalist" (does this mean she talked alot?) and that neighbors "enjoyed hearing her reminiscences about the days of old". Being her great-great granddaughter, I wish I could have enjoyed those stories too. |
