Celebration of life services will be from 1:30-4 p.m. Sept. 3 at the Harmon Park Activity Center in Kearney, Neb. Darleen passed away peacefully in her home. She was born Jan. 11, 1932, in Huntley, Neb., to John Franklin and Alethia Catherine (Tuffs) Maret. She attended school in Gibbon, Neb., and graduated in 1949. Celebration of life services will be from 1:30-4 p.m. Sept. 3 at the Harmon Park Activity Center in Kearney, Neb. Darleen passed away peacefully in her home. She was born Jan. 11, 1932, in Huntley, Neb., to John Franklin and Alethia Catherine (Tuffs) Maret. She attended school in Gibbon, Neb., and graduated in 1949. After a year of college at Nebraska State Teachers College, she taught in District 4 in rural Buffalo County. Darleen married Edwin Staab on Dec. 6, 1953, at First Baptist Church in Gibbon. She continued her education at Kearney State College and received Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees. She taught school in Ainsworth and Ogallala, Neb., and Santa Ana, Calif. She retired from teaching in 1997. The family moved to California in 1964 and to Tennessee in 2012. She is survived by her husband, Ed; sons, Gregg and wife Debra Staab of Orange, Calif., and Mark and wife Susan Staab of Clarksville; and two granddaughters, Emmaline and Claire Staab of Clarksville. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters and their spouses, Margie and Chuck Leonard of Aubrey, Texas, Elaine and Mike Batenhorst of Kearney, Kenny and Sandy Maret of Grand Island, Neb., Nancy and Jerome Packer of Wood River, Neb., Ramona Raile of St. Francis, Kan., and Robert and Lana Maret of Wood River; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Reita Maret of Omaha, Neb., Max and Lola Staab of Arcadia, Neb., Harry and Joan Staab of Kearney, Della and Dick Gerht of Elm Creek, Rollie and Gloria Staab of Ord, Larry and Priscilla Staab of Crown Point, Ind., Phyllis Samp of Ansley, Neb., Patty Staab of Kearney and Samantha Staab of Broken Bow; and many nieces and nephews who cared for her deeply. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Darrell Maret; nephew, Mike Packer; and brothers-in law, Dale Raile, Bernard Staab and John Staab.
