Description	:	Darlene was born to Ernest C. and Anna C. (Easton) Fuqua. She was graduated from the Fairfield, Iowa high school, where she was an award-winning baton trirler. She then attended Parsons College in Fairfield for two years, where she was a majorette, and worked in a civil defense plant, also in Fairfield. She married Dean Howard Luxford in the chapel at Parsons College (then a Presbyterian college). Dean had only recently returned from active service in World War Two. She was graduated from the Fairfield, Iowa high school, where she was an award-winning baton trirler. She then attended Parsons College in Fairfield for two years, where she was a majorette, and worked in a civil defense plant, also in Fairfield. She married Dean Howard Luxford in the chapel at Parsons College (then a Presbyterian college). Dean had only recently returned from active service in World War Two. The couple moved to Shelby, Iowa where she lived for the rest of her life. She helped start the Shelby marching band. In 1952 she began working in her husband's insurance office. She later worked in real estage, as well. Both she and Dean retired in 1965. From 1970-72 they wre part owners of the Dairy Queen in Shelby, helping to build the building and business. She and her husband were active members of the Shelby Presbyterian Church. She was in Eastern Star. She enjoyed painting, and she designed the Shelby Centennial emblem. Darlene was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Donald Fuqua. She was survived by her husband, Dean of Shelby; and one daughter, Dixie IMrs. Mac McClelland of Omaha, Nebraska, and one son Bill (wife Diane) Luxford of Omaha.
