Darlene died Sunday, December 18, 2011 at Avera St. Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen. Darlene Dorothy Nishek, daughter of August and Ida (Bachman) Nishek was born June 24, 1943 at Ellendale, ND. She began her education in a country school and graduated from Ellendale High School with the class of 1961. She then attended the University of North Dakota Ellendale branch for one year studying accounting. She worked in Ellendale. She was united in marriage to Donald L. Miller on April 14, 1963 in Zion Lutheran Church at Ellendale. They made their home on Donald's family homestead where they were general farmers raising small grains and livestock. She especially loved her chickens. She worked at the Ellendale Community Hospital in Dietary from 1990-1994 when the hospital then closed. In 1997, she began working for Fargo Assembly in Ellendale until 2006. Darlene enjoyed raising a large garden, sewing and hunting and fishing with Don. Darlene was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and a past member of Grand Valley Township Board from 1992-2010. Survivors include her husband, four sons, Mickey Miller of Aberdeen, Jason (Amber) Miller of Monango, ND, Derrick (Cresta) Miller and Jeff Miller, both of Ellendale, seven brothers including her twin brother, Donald (Mercedes) Nishek of Ellendale, LeRoy (Penny) Nishek of Allen, TX, Wayne (Marjorie) Nishek of Bonners Ferry, ID, Lelan (Barbara) Nishek, Albert "Butch" (Susie) Nishek, William Nishek and Jerry (Laura) Nishek, all of Kauai, Hawaii, three sister-in-laws, Verna Klipfel of Ellendale, Dorothy (Alvin) Merkel of Aberdeen and Donna Mueller of Anoka, MN and ten grandchildren. Her parents and one brother, Edward Nishek preceded her in death. Honorary Casketbearers will be Darlene's grandchildren. Casketbearers will be Brad Nishek, Wayne Klipfel, John Klipfel, Dick Olson, Troy Olson and Dale Hiepler. The organist will be Marilyn Burow and the soloist's will be Iris Erickson and Alyssa Nishek. Arrangements are pending with Carlsen Funeral Home of Ellendale.
