Rob Moorlach will officiate. Burial will follow in the Conde Cemetery under the direction of Paetznick-Garness Funeral Chapel, Groton. Knoll was born on December 26, 1926 in Andover, SD to John and Elsie (Roettele) Knoll. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Groton. Darlene graduated from Groton High School in 1944 and continued her education at Northern State College in Aberdeen. She earned her teaching certificate and taught at the Lincoln Miles School near Conde, where she met Henry R. Meyer. They married on July 10, 1947 and lived in Conde all of their married life. To this union two sons were born; Douglas Henry and Kirk Allen. During her years in Conde she worked part-time at the Wagner Drug Store, People's Bank, Red Owl Store and Mike's Market. In 1950, she took the Civil Service exam and went to work in the Conde Post Office as a clerk. Darlene was appointed as Postmaster in 1952. She belonged to the National League of Postmasters and served on many state and national levels for the US Postal Service. Darlene loved her job and enjoyed the people. She retired in 1982 after 30 years and 30 days. After Henry's death, Darlene moved to Sisseton to be close to her brother. She later lived with her sister in Washington. Darlene was a member of the United Methodist Church in Conde. She had belonged to the UMW, Senior Citizens and was a 50 year member of the Eastern Star. Darlene had served on the Conde City Council, School Board, Election Board and Civic Development. She also was active as a Scout Leader, Sunday school teacher and promoter for the Conde Centennial. Darlene had many hobbies including crocheting, quilting, sewing, yard work, plants and a devotion to her family. Survivors include her two sons; Kirk Meyer of Sun Lakes, Arizona and Douglas (Junia) Meyer of Willow Lake, one sister, Madlyn Simpson of Prosser, Washington and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, one sister and three brothers. Casketbearers will be Milton Knoll, Malcolm Knoll, Dale Simpson, Larry Knoll, Diane Dodgson and Bruce Herman. - Paetznick- Garness Funeral Chapel
