The family farmed and ranched in the White Beaver area north of Reedpoint.Darlene attended Antelope Point, Reedpoint and Columbus schools. Darlene married George Slyder in 1951 and raised their sons, Stan and Steve, on the family ranch near Rapelje. After Darlene and George's marriage ended,she married Joe cash in 1972. Darlene was considered a "top hand" both outside doing ranch work and inside she kept an immaculate house,cooked extraordinary meals and crocheted numerous kitchen towels and pot holders for loved ones. Darlene had a sharp memory and the ability to share whatever was on her mind at any given moment. Darlene "Grannie" took great pride in making sure her grandchildren felt special and had everything they needed. Darlene was preceded in death by husband Joe, son Steve,parents Everett and Gladys, and siblings, Glen, Frances and Ardith. She is survived by son Stan(Roxy)Slyder;stepchildren Connie(David)Trees, Julie(JD)Jones, and Ed(the late Kari)Cash; grandchildren Matt(Michella) Slyder, Jamie(Pierre) LeMieux, Kari Slyder,Rachel(Joe)Coombs, Jeff(Ashlyn)Jones and Tasha(Jason) Hines; as well as great-grandchildren Taylor Slyder, Hannah Coombs, Paxton and Zoriah Jones,Rylee and Shaylee Hines and many nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Don and Donna Cash, as well as Tender Nest staff, for the exceptional care of Darlene in the later years of her life. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Jan 9 at Smith West Chapel, 304 34 St. W with interment to follow in the Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
