Survivors: daughter, Jeanne Lisec of Lincoln; son, Arlin Bartels and wife Sylvia of Estes Park, Colo.; grandchildren, Angela and Amber Lisec, Arlin Bartels,Jr. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Anna Hubka; husband, Edgar, in 1991; and brothers, Ervin and Armand. Funeral: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 17, Fox Funeral Home, Beatrice, Pastor Todd Hunter officiating. Burial: Evergreen Home Cemetery, Beatrice. Visitation: until time of service at the funeral home. (Newspaper Clipping, unknown source.) *************************************************************************************************** MISS DARLENE HUBKA AND EDGAR BARTELS MARRIED Friedens Evangelical church, near DuBois, was the scene of a very pretty wedding Sunday evening, November 30, at eight o'clock, when Miss Darlene Hubka and Edgar Bartels were united in the holy bonds of wedlock, Rev. Rieder officiating. The single ring ceremony was used. The only jewelry the bride wore was a gold locket, a gift from the groom. The bridal party entered the church to the strains of the wedding march from Lohengrin, played by Wm. Flory, and Miss Julia Crom sang, "O, Promise Me," and "I Love You Truly," preceding the ceremony. Wm. Flory played Mendelssohn's wedding march for the recessional. The bride was charming in a floor length gown of white chiffon. She wore a long illusion veil and carried a bouquet of pink roses. She was attended by her cousin, Miss Sylva Hubka, gowned in a floor-length pink taffeta, and she carried a bouquet of white roses. Alta and Carol Jean Tegtmeier, as flower girls, were dressed in pink taffeta and each carried a basket of pink roses and ferns. Miss Julia Crom lighted the eight white tall tapers which stood behind a background of ferns and palms and pink and white chrysanthemums. Her dress was a floor-length gown of blue taffeta. Clarence Rinne, cousin of the groom, was best man. The ushers were Arnold Chauza and John Bohm. The ceremony was witnessed by 160 relatives and close friends and immediately following the ceremony, a reception was held at the bride's home, the home being decorated in pink and white. The table center piece was a lovely three-tier wedding cake, centered between crystal candle holders and pink candles. Mrs. Chas. Bohm was in charge of the gift room and Miss Ona Bily the guest book. Mrs. George Chittick, Miss Martha Vogt, Mrs. Everett Halfhide, Mrs. Nelie Smith and Mrs. Howard Cutshall served. The bride is an attractive and charming young lady and is well fitted for her new position as a life companion for her husband. She received her education in the Pawnee City schools and for the past three years has been a member of the nursing staff at the Pawnee Hospital. The groom is a well known young man of the Steinauer community. He is a young man of excellent reputation, and like his bride, has a wide circle of friends. He received his education in the Lutheran Parochial school at Elk Creek and is engaged in farming and stock raising. After a short wedding trip, the happy young couple will make their home on a farm of the groom's mother, Mrs. Emelie Bartels. They have the sincere best wishes of a host of friends.
