Description	:	Mrs. Darlene Boeve, age 83, of Hull, passed away on Monday, January 31, 2011, at the Rock Rapids Health Centre. There will be a funeral service on Friday, February 4, at 10:30am, at the First Reformed Church in Hull. The Rev. Verlyn Boone will officiate. Interment will follow at the Hope Cemetery in Hull. Visitation will be after 4:00pm on Thursday, with the family present from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at the church. Arrangements are with the Oolman Funeral Home in Hull. Darlene Jean was born on April 12, 1927, at Hull, the daughter of William and Anna (Brouwer) Oostenink. She was raised in the Hull area and attended the Hull Public High School, participating in music and basketball. After graduating in 1945, she attended the Mankato, Minnesota, Business College, and then worked at the Farmers Mutual Insurance Agency in Hull. On February 22, 1950, she married Henry C. Boeve in Hull. Together they operated the "Bos" family farm north of Hull. She later began working as a nurses' aide at the Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull. In 1983, she graduated with honors from the Northwest Iowa Technical College nursing program in Sheldon. She continued her work at Pleasant Acres, now as a nurse, and volunteered as an Emergency Medical Technician in Hull for many years. Darlene lived on the family farm for 61 years, including 11 years after her husband's death on November 21, 1999, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. On December 27th of last year, health problems forced her to move to the Rock Rapids Health Centre. She was a member of the First Reformed Church, where she participated in the ladies' circles and sang in the church choir. In her earlier years, Mrs. Boeve enjoyed singing with her sister at family gatherings, imitating the Andrews Sisters. Very few nights went by that the younger children were not relaxed with a bed time story. Her love of music and reading was a gift she passed on to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Survivors include her eight children, Janice, and her husband, C. Dwayne De Boer, and Henry J. Boeve, and his wife, Judy, all of Hull; Patti Boeve, of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin; Ken Boeve, and his wife, Bev, of Hull; Duane Boeve, and his wife, Sharon, of Milford; and Norm Boeve, and his wife, Mary; Darla, and her husband, George Vande Kamp; and Lisa, and her husband, Glen Kooiker, all of Hull; seventeen grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson; two sisters, her twin, Dolores Stange, of Sherman, Texas; and Lois Vande Garde, of Rock Valley; and several nephews and nieces. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Dave Bollom, a grandson, and a great-grandson. Blessed be the memory of Darlene Jean Boeve.
