Description	:	Darlene DeRose was born to Florence and Frank Maynes in Oberlin, Kansas. At the age of nine, Frank and Florence moved their family to Grand Junction and settled in the Appleton area. Darlene attended Appleton, completing both elementary and high school. On June 19, 1947, she and Raymond were married and spent the next 65 years together, until his death in 2012. Read More	Darlene DeRose was born to Florence and Frank Maynes in Oberlin, Kansas. At the age of nine, Frank and Florence moved their family to Grand Junction and settled in the Appleton area. Darlene attended Appleton, completing both elementary and high school. On June 19, 1947, she and Raymond were married and spent the next 65 years together, until his death in 2012. Darlene enjoyed most everything from family to work, fishing, crocheting and especially bowling. In fact, she and Ray were both avid bowlers, involved in both womens, mens, and mixed leagues in Grand Junction for over 30 years. Darlene's most memorable moments occurred in 1967, when she bowled a sanctioned 701 scratch series (Games of 267, 210, and 224), and became the first woman in Grand Junction to do so. Darlene is preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Doc, Glen, Sammy, Dewey, Keith, Nora, Hattie, and Shirley; the Love of her Life, Raymond, and grandson, Stephen. She is survived by sons, Dennis (Judy), Ron (Sherrie), and Jerry (Debbie); six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Bonnie Foust, and brother, Rex Maynes. The family sends special thanks to Solstice at Mesa View, First Light Care Givers staff at Larchwood Inns, as well as HopeWest, for making mom's remaining days filled with dignity and comfort. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to HopeWest, 3090B North 12th Street, Grand Junction, CO 81506. A viewing will be held from 11 - 1:00 p.m., Friday, September 3, with services at 1:30 p.m., at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary. Officiating will be Darlene's nephew, David DeRose. Darlene will be laid to rest next to Raymond at Memorial Gardens. Reception will follow at Melissa DeRose's home, 1237 North 16th Street in Grand Junction.
