Jans was born July 13, 1927, to Jell and Clara (Bonn) Schurman at Garretson, SD. She was united in marriage to Ruben Jans on April 5, 1947, in Sioux Falls, SD. Darolene worked as a baker at Nettleton Business School, the SD School for the Deaf, and the University of Sioux Falls. Darolene enjoyed crocheting afghans for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She also liked going to ceramics class. She looked forward to camping, hunting, and fishing with Ruben. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Darolene was a member of Central Baptist Church. Grateful for having shared her life are her children, Diane Stimson, Olympia, WA, Dennis Jans (Vonnie), Sioux Falls, SD, Donna Lager, Sioux Falls, SD; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Helen and Beatrice; and sons-in-law, Michael Stimson and Gary Lager. Following a private interment at Hills of Rest Memorial Park, Memorial Services will be held 1:30pm Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home, 507 S. Main Avenue. Visitation begins at noon Monday, with the family present to greet friends from 5:00 to 7:00 Monday evening at the funeral home.
