Description	:	Darrel Duane Pochop, 74, of Winner, SD, died Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at the Avera Gregory Healthcare Center. Darrel was born May 7, 1937 to George and Pauline (Meyers) Pochop, the 2nd son of four boys, in Dallas, SD. He was baptized, confirmed and a lifelong member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Colome, SD. He attended a rural school through eighth grade and graduated from Colome High School in 1955. Read More	Darrel Duane Pochop, 74, of Winner, SD, died Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at the Avera Gregory Healthcare Center. Darrel was born May 7, 1937 to George and Pauline (Meyers) Pochop, the 2nd son of four boys, in Dallas, SD. He was baptized, confirmed and a lifelong member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Colome, SD. He attended a rural school through eighth grade and graduated from Colome High School in 1955. Later in 1955, he joined the Navy and was honorably discharged in 1959. He then returned to the family farm southwest of Dallas, SD. On November 4, 1961, Darrel married JoAnn Kahler and to this union two daughters were born, Leila Kay and Alane Jill. JoAnn passed away on August 18, 1974. Darrel married Margaret Anderson-Loewel on August 7, 1976. Darrel remained on the family farm until 1982. His work as an electrical engineer took him to many surrounding states. Retirement came in 2010. Darrel took an interest in community affairs and served many years on elevator, township and church boards. He was a proud member of the local VFW. Darrel will be remembered by many for his kindness and generosity to family, neighbors and friends. He enjoyed reading, visiting and playing cards. Church was a very important part of his life, which was displayed in his eagerness to attend many of the conferences as a delegate. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Pauline Pochop; his wife JoAnn, his brother Virgil, his mother and father-in law Leonard and Dorothy Kahler, and Brownie and Margaret Anderson, 3 brothers -in-law and several nieces and nephews who died in infancy or as children.
