Description	:	Darrel Larson, 82, of Vermillion, South Dakota, passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at Veterans Hospital in Sioux Falls. Darrel was born on October 21, 1931, in Vermillion to Joseph and Alice (Sampson) Larson. Darrel married the love of his life, Barbara Sather on February 27, 1960, and the two remained happily married until her passing. Darrel was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. Read More	Darrel Larson, 82, of Vermillion, South Dakota, passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at Veterans Hospital in Sioux Falls. Darrel was born on October 21, 1931, in Vermillion to Joseph and Alice (Sampson) Larson. Darrel married the love of his life, Barbara Sather on February 27, 1960, and the two remained happily married until her passing. Darrel was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. When he was farming he always made sure that he left some crops out to feed and shelter the pheasant population. He passed down his work ethic as well as his love of farming and the outdoors to his family. He also ran a fishing lodge in Canada and took many groups up there over the course of 20 years. When he wasn't outdoors he was having coffee with his friends and discussing politics or his favorite football team, the Green Bay Packers. Many nights he could be found in Gayville with his wife listening to the tribute bands and dancing. He was also a giving person who could measure the amount of blood he had donated in gallons. Though, the thing that he was the most proud of was his service during the Korean War. Darrel is survived by his children, Cindy (John) Carrington of Meckling, South Dakota, and Tim (Marie) Larson of Centerville, South Dakota; his step-children, Joan Downey of Meckling, and Gail Fiedler of Vermillion; his grandchildren, Shannon Jones, Alicia (Brian) Kimball, Mandy Jones, and Justin Fisher; and fifteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Larson; his parents, Joseph and Alice Larson; his sisters, Ruth Boline, and Marjorie Swedeen; an infant brother; and his granddaughter, Brigette Fisher.
