Burger, age 82, of Cassville, MO, formerly of Harlan, IA, passed away on Tuesday, November 4, 2008, at Cox South Medical Center in Springfield, MO. Darrell, son of Otis and Helen (Erickson) Burger, was born on August 8, 1926, in Red Line, IA. Darrell was united in marriage to Clara Irene Johansen on August 1, 1943. To this union five children were born. Clara preceded him in death in August of 1970. In the early 1960's Darrell opened Harlan Mechanical Contractor, which he owned and operated until his retirement in 2000. Darrell married Marcia (Stofferson) Findlay in a quiet ceremony on May 19, 1975, in Omaha, NE. She survives. Darrell served as a past city councilman and Mayor for Harlan, and was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ in Harlan. Darrell and Marcia moved to Cassville, MO, in 2000 after several years of vacationing in the area. Darrell was a kind and caring person who always had a great sense of humor and loved sharing it with people. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. In addition to his wife, Marcia Burger, of Cassville, MO, Darrell is survived by two sons, Ron Burger, of Malvern, IA, and Tom Burger, and his partner, Ty Webb, of Los Angeles, CA; three daughters, Sandra Kopta, of Greenbelt, MD, Patricia Nordby, and her husband, Marvin, of Salida, CO, and Judy Will, of Malvern, IA; four step-sons, William Findlay, of Minatare, NE; Mark Findlay, of Harlan, IA, Cole Findlay, of Harlan, IA, and David Findlay, of Persia, IA; one sister, Marjorie Leinen, of Papillion, NE; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; eleven step-grandchildren; fourteen great-step-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Memorial services were held at a later date in Harlan, IA. Contributions may be made to the American Lung Association or the charity of your choice in memory of Darrell. Acknowledgements may be sent to Mrs. Marcia Burger, 1009 Forest Circle Drive, Cassville, MO 65625. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of the White Funeral Home, Cassville, MO
