Description	:	Darrell J. Wolfe, Jr., 93, of Middletown, died Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at the New London Nursing and Rehab Center. He was born September 5, 1921 in Van Buren County to Darrell and Dorothy Folker Wolfe, Sr. On April 21, 1941 in Kahoka, Mo., he married Joan Schulz. She died October 30, 2013. Darrell was a graduate of Farmington High School and attended Princeton for schooling during the war, where he met Albert Einstein. Wolfe, Jr., 93, of Middletown, died Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at the New London Nursing and Rehab Center. He was born September 5, 1921 in Van Buren County to Darrell and Dorothy Folker Wolfe, Sr. On April 21, 1941 in Kahoka, Mo., he married Joan Schulz. She died October 30, 2013. Darrell was a graduate of Farmington High School and attended Princeton for schooling during the war, where he met Albert Einstein. He served with great pride with the 10th Armored Division, attached to Gen. Patton's 3rd Army in the European Campaign during World War II as a radio operator in a half trak. He was awarded a certificate of appreciation from the French Consul for aiding in the Liberation of France. Mr. Wolfe worked for Mason Hanger at the IAAP with 35 years of service retiring as department manager. He was a charter member of Deerwood Golf Club, a 50 plus member of Patriot Lodge #650, a member of VFW Post #7641, New London and a member of the 10th Armored Division Association. He enjoyed golfing, mowing his yard with his John Deere tractor, and coffee with his buddies in New London and Danville. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one son, Terry Wolfe, three grandchildren, Peter and Robin Wolfe and Lindsey Kerr; one sister Darlene Rashid, and three brothers, Thomas, Jacob and Gary.
