Description	:	Darrell L. "Dick" Pierce, 91, of Marysville, and a former resident of Dryden, died Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 15, 2003 in an Arlington Convalescent Center. He was born on June 3, 1911 to Don Leo and Franka Marie (Shaw) Pierce at Mead, WA, where Darrell grew up and received his education, graduating from Mead High School. "Dick" Pierce, 91, of Marysville, and a former resident of Dryden, died Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 15, 2003 in an Arlington Convalescent Center. He was born on June 3, 1911 to Don Leo and Franka Marie (Shaw) Pierce at Mead, WA, where Darrell grew up and received his education, graduating from Mead High School. During his school years he worked on the family farm. Following high school, Dick worked as a logger in Eastern Washington. During W.W. II, he served with the 26th Signal Corps and Motor Pool with the American Division and following his honorable discharge in 1946, he returned to Spokane. Dick later moved to Western Washington, where he was employed in the logging industry. In 1955 he was employed by the Great Northern Railroad in the Bridge Division. On June 30, 1962 he married Caroline Margaret Johnson Stebbins at Post Falls, ID. They made their home in Western Washington and following his retirement in 1975 they moved to Dryden. In 1985 they returned to Western Washington, moving to Marysville to make their home. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 9417 in Gold Bar, Eagles Lodge and the Snohomish Grange, F & AM Lodge #259 and the Scottish Rite, Everett Valley. Dick is survived by two stepdaughters, Darlene Dennis of Cottage Grove, OR, and Joyce Kopp of Marysville; a stepson and his wife, Fred and Karen Stebbins of Yakima; sister, Leora McBride of Spokane; ten grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Caroline in Nov. of 2002; four grandchildren; two brothers; and three sisters. A graveside inurnment service of Commemoration to celebrate the Life of Darrell "Dick" Pierce will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday afternoon, Jan. 24, 2003, at the gravesite in Mt. View Cemetery, with Pastor Bob Jackson, officiating. Ward's Funeral Chapel of Leavenworth, is in charge of the arrangements.
