Description	:	Darrold R. Best, age 66, went to his eternal rest on February 3, 2005, in Central Washington Hospital, Wenatchee. He was born May 15, 1938, in Deer Park, WA. The family moved to the Okanogan Valley in 1944. He attended school in Okanogan, Omak and graduated from Quincy in 1956. Darrold joined the U.S. Army in July 1961, and served with the 505th Transportation Company until his honorable discharge in July 1963. He married Elizabeth A. Bryant in October 1963, in Okanogan. Best, age 66, went to his eternal rest on February 3, 2005, in Central Washington Hospital, Wenatchee. He was born May 15, 1938, in Deer Park, WA. The family moved to the Okanogan Valley in 1944. He attended school in Okanogan, Omak and graduated from Quincy in 1956. Darrold joined the U.S. Army in July 1961, and served with the 505th Transportation Company until his honorable discharge in July 1963. He married Elizabeth A. Bryant in October 1963, in Okanogan. For many years he was a heavy equipment operator in Chelan, Okanogan and Douglas counties and then served the Eastmont School District until his retirement in 2003. Throughout his life, Darrold was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was well known in the Okanogan and Wenatchee Valleys as an accomplished guitarist and vocalist, entertaining at Senior Centers and community gatherings. Darrold is survived by his wife. Elizabeth at home in East Wenatchee; sons, Darrold B. (Bobbie) Best of Wenatchee, Jeffrey Best of East Wenatchee, Randy Best Anderson of Vancouver, Tony (Cindy) Grissom of East Wenatchee, Roger Grissom of Wenatchee, daughter, Janice (Jerry) Rogers of Boise, ID; two sisters, Lenora Best (Walter) Reese of East Wenatchee, Mona Best (Ray) DeWitt of Colville; 15 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; beloved nieces and nephews; and a multitude of loving friends. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Best Anderson and his parents, David R. and Ruth Brunton Best. Memorial Graveside Services will be held at Evergreen Memorial Park 1301-10th St., East Wenatchee on Friday, February 11, 2005, 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Clarence "Mark" Marquardt officiating. Memorial gifts may be made to the Scholarship Fund, Faith Lutheran Church, 171 Eastmont Ave., East Wenatchee or the American Heart Association, 140 S. Arthur, #610, Spokane, WA 99202.
