Description	:	Daryl Edward Root, son of Orlando and Marjorie (Bromley) Root, was born January 29, 1953, in Sioux Falls, SD. He grew up in Sioux Falls and attended Lincoln High School where he participated in talent shows and was on the Merit and Honor Rolls. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1971. Read More	Daryl Edward Root, son of Orlando and Marjorie (Bromley) Root, was born January 29, 1953, in Sioux Falls, SD. He grew up in Sioux Falls and attended Lincoln High School where he participated in talent shows and was on the Merit and Honor Rolls. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1971. Daryl graduated from Mitchell Area Votech with a degree in Culinary Arts in May 1975. Following his graduation he married Caryla Chambers in Minneapolis, MN. The couple moved to Montana where he worked various jobs. The highlight of his time in Montana was spent working as the camp cook at the Bob Marshall Wilderness Area. While at the camp he would spend time hunting and fishing in the vast wilderness. In 1984 Daryl moved to Sioux Falls where he attended Southeast Votech and graduated with a degree as a Printing Technician. He worked for the Shopping News for a period of time before he was forced to retire due to ill health. He moved to Parkston, SD in 1992 where he was a member of Memorial Baptist Church, the Moose Lodge and played in the Happy Memories Band. Daryl was a self educated renaissance man who spent his time over the years doing many things. He played with the Happy Memories Band at various nursing homes throughout the area and was the Volunteer of the Year in 2004 at the Firesteel Healthcare Center. Daryl also received the Certificate of Appreciation for Outstanding Volunteer from the Sioux Land Heritage Museum in 1990 and 1991. Daryl enjoyed cooking, gardening, playing guitar, banjo, the mandolin and singing. He was a very gentle and artistic soul who enjoyed the fiber arts of knitting, weaving and leatherwork as well as painting and calligraphy. Daryl built his own boat and also a telescope with his father. Daryl was preceded in death by his father, Orlando Root.
