Daryle Eugene Steinkuehler was born on May 1, 1942, to parents Reinhardt and Vernette (Johannsen) Steinkuehler in Buck Grove, IA. He grew up on a farm with his family near Tennant, IA. He graduated from Shelby-Tennant High School and in 1964 he enlisted into the United States Army National Guard. Daryle served our country until being honorably discharged on January 8, 1970. "Daryle was a truck driver throughout most of his life. He was a hardworking man who loved and cared for his family very much. On December 27, 1986, Daryle married Judy Marie Newhouse, with her five daughters, in Logan, IA. Together, they raised their family in the Modale, IA and Shelby, IA areas. "In his spare time, when not out on the road, Daryle enjoyed fishing. Black Hawk Lake in Lake View was one of his favorite spots to cast. He also liked to watch old westerns on television and could often be found at his workbench, woodworking. During certain seasons, Daryle loved to hunt. Above all though, Daryle loved more than anything to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by them and by all who knew and loved him. "Left to cherish Daryle’s memory are children: Danny (Terry) Steinkuehler of Cartersville, GA, Kathy (David) Wells of Orlando, FL, Andrea Dollen (Scott Christensen) of Omaha, NE, Kali (Scott) Stone of Sac City, IA, Eugene (Theresa) Spencer of Eagle Grove, IA, Artema (Darren) Gray of Silver City, IA, Angela (Jay) Hopkins of Bremerton, WA, and Amanda (Mark) Umphrey of LaRue, OH; grandchildren: Sean Hodges, Brian Dollen, Kalise Umphrey, Jenna Umphrey, Jeritt Umphrey, Hayli Kimsey, Nevaeh Stone, Elizabeth Stone, Shelby Spencer, Michael Spencer, Ryker Gray, and Lindsey Oswald; great-grandchildren: Ryan Gruber, Ethan Umphrey, and Olivia Oswald; brother Gary (Carolyn) Steinkuehler of Defiance, IA; sisters: Shirley (Willie) Mumm of Defiance, IA, Barb Schleimer of Panama, IA; sister Lou Ann Reno of Las Vegas, NV; brother-in-law Skip Marshall of Defiance, IA; many extended family members and friends.
