Daryle was born April 12, 1929, in Belle Plaine Township, Spink County, S.D., to Ralph and Erma (Muellenberg) Starr. He graduated from Doland High School in 1947 and attended Hansen Mechanic School in Fargo, N.D. Daryle married Marian Thompson on Nov. 6, 1949. He worked for Morrells in Sioux Falls for a couple of years before starting to farm northeast of Doland. They moved to the Starr Family Homestead east of Frankfort where Daryle farmed and fed cattle until he retired. He rented his cattle feed lot to the Swanson Brothers. He also was a Pioneer Seed Representative for 32 years. Daryle and Marian spent the last 12 winters in Mesa, Ariz. They always looked forward and enjoyed their time in Arizona. He was a member of the Yelduz Shrine and the Masonic Lodge #34 where he was a 32nd degree mason and held many offices in the organization. He enjoyed gardening and watching all sports, especially the Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Vikings. He also enjoyed golfing at Fisher Grove Country Club near Frankfort, and while in Arizona, he often lined up tee times for his buddies at area courses. Daryle is survived by his wife Marian Starr of Frankfort; two sons: Ron Starr of Doland, Rick (Linda) Starr of Englewood, Colo., and one daughter Robin (Dale) Terwee of Sturgis, S.D. He is also survived by eight grandchildren: Teresa (Chris) Person, Chris (Jen) Boschee, Ryan Starr, Dusty Dakota Starr, Jeremy (Melissa) Boyd, Nathan Boyd, Grant Boyd and Whitney Boyd and nine great-grandchildren. Daryle loved kids and many neighbor and friend's children called him Grandpa Daryle. He was preceded in death by his parents. Published in the Aberdeen News on 6/4/2005.
