Description	:	David A Tschetter was born on July 29, 1840 in the village of Raditchewa in southern Russia. He died on August 19, 1906 near Freeman, South Dakota. He was the son of Jacob and Barbara Tschetter (Kleinsasser). He married Maria Hofer on November 29, 1859 and together they had ten children. Before moving to America they raised their family in the village of Neu Hutterthal located in southern Russia where his brother, Paul Tschetter, was the pastor of the church of the village. David was 35 years old when he arrived in New York, New York on the ship "Main"... Read More	David A Tschetter was born on July 29, 1840 in the village of Raditchewa in southern Russia. He died on August 19, 1906 near Freeman, South Dakota. He was the son of Jacob and Barbara Tschetter (Kleinsasser). He married Maria Hofer on November 29, 1859 and together they had ten children. Before moving to America they raised their family in the village of Neu Hutterthal located in southern Russia where his brother, Paul Tschetter, was the pastor of the church of the village. David was 35 years old when he arrived in New York, New York on the ship "Main" on September 4, 1875 with his wife Maria and their two sons and four daughters ranging from the age of 11 months to 9 years old. After the 10 plus days on the sea from South Hampton to New York, they still had a long trip to the plains of the Dakota Territory where they homesteaded. After arriving in the Dakota Territory, David and Maria had two more sons and two more daughters. David and Maria joined the Salem Mennonite Brethren Church in November 1886 and became life long members, David was a Deacon of this church at the time of his death. After his death, he was buried in the Salem Mennonite Brethren Church Cemetery which is located near Bridgewaer, South Dakota. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Barbara Tschetter (Kleinsasser).
