Description	:	OTTUMWA - David Alexander, 78, formerly of 1606 W. Second St., died January 25, 2012 at The Good Samaritan Society-Ottumwa. He was born January 29, 1933, in Ottumwa to Peter and Genevieve Lewis Alexander. He married Rosemary C. Essary on September 27, 1955. She preceded him in death April 14, 2000. David served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He had worked at John Deere Ottumwa Works, E.T. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars. Surviving is a daughter, Jeanne(David)Alexander Shinofield of Montezuma; two grandchildren, Adam and Christina; a great-granddaughter, Delilah Rose; and an adopted brother, Jeff Hall of Bloomfield. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral service will be 1 pm Friday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Mel Kendall officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be open at 1 pm Thursday. The family will be present one hour prior to the service on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Good Samaritan Society-Ottumwa Activities Department.
