He was born July 10, 1940, in Florence, the son of the late David Ashton Gause and Elizabeth Phipps Gause. Mr. Gause was a graduate of the University of South Carolina. He worked in the Lancaster County School system for thirty - seven years, as a teacher and coach of football and basketball. Read More	Mr. David Ashton Gause, Jr, 72, of Lancaster passed away Saturday, March 9, 2013, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. He was born July 10, 1940, in Florence, the son of the late David Ashton Gause and Elizabeth Phipps Gause. Mr. Gause was a graduate of the University of South Carolina. He worked in the Lancaster County School system for thirty - seven years, as a teacher and coach of football and basketball. A graveside service to celebrate the life of Mr. Gause will be held Monday, March 11, 2013, at 2:00 pm at St. Paul United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Ron Avant officiating. Mr. Gause is survived by his wife, Bonnie Stevenson Gause; two sons, Gregg Gause and his wife Annette of Lancaster and Sam Gause and his wife Nancy of Prosperity; and four grandchildren, Christina, Marsh, Madden, and Bailey. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday, March 10, 2013, at Lancaster Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Second Baptist Church ? Building Fund, 1426 Great Falls Highway, Lancaster, SC 29720. Lancaster Funeral Home & Cremation Service is serving the family of Mr. Gause.
