Description	:	D.B.Pepper was born in Connecticut, May 17, 1823. At the age of three he, with his parents, moved to Pennsylvania where he resided till about the age of twenty-one. Then moving to Wisconsin, he formed the acquaintance of Miss Sarah L. Clark and was married in the year of 1852. From there they moved to Eden, Fayette County, Iowa. To them was born five children, two sons and three daughters, all of whom survive but one daughter, who died at the age of twenty-three in 1883. At the age of three he, with his parents, moved to Pennsylvania where he resided till about the age of twenty-one. Then moving to Wisconsin, he formed the acquaintance of Miss Sarah L. Clark and was married in the year of 1852. From there they moved to Eden, Fayette County, Iowa. To them was born five children, two sons and three daughters, all of whom survive but one daughter, who died at the age of twenty-three in 1883. The children living are as follows: Mrs. Emma Smith, Charles City; Orson Hubbell Pepper, Eden; Charlie Pepper, Marble Rock; Mary Loper, Charles City. Twenty-four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren remain alive to this present. David Barlow Pepper died August the 4th, 1900, at the age of 77 years, 2 months and 18 days, of paralysis. He leaves a wife, two sons and two daughters to mourn his loss. He was strong in body and possessed a bright and cheerful disposition, being a kind father and a loving husband, and his winnings ways won many friends. The funeral service was held at the Clark school house, Monday, August the 6th, Rev. D.M. Parker, of Waucoma, officiating, after which his earthly tenement of clay was laid to rest in the Alpha cemetery. Rest in peace. The following lines were written by the children in memory of their father: We have tearfully folded our father's cold hands Lovingly over his breast. We have kissed his pale lips forevermore closed, And gently laid him to rest. We have laid him to rest with a void in our hearts, In anguish wept over his tomb. But we know there's a home in our Father's house, A home for us all in the skies. And we know that the father we loved so well, Has found that Paradise. Fayette County Union August 1900
