Description	:	David Bernard Wantz Sr., of Emmitsburg, left this world for eternal rest September 28 in Gettysburg. He was a son of the late Harry and Annie Eyler Wantz. Mr. Wantz served in the Korean War, enlisted July 12, 1948 when he was 17 years old. He was part of the 7th Inf. Div., 1 ST BN, 32nd Inf. Reg. Hq Co. Discharged March 31, 1950 and married Edith, the greatest woman that ever lived. Mr. Wantz re-enlisted September 15, 1950 and was discharged December 3, 1951. He worked at Hemp Brothers Inc. for 40 years as a pipe foreman on road construction. Mr. Wantz loved solving word search puzzles and enjoyed collecting coins. He anxiously awaited the release of the year's new state coins in which he ensured each of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren had one of their own for their collections. Mr. Wantz loved taking rides throughout the local countryside. But most of all, he was at his happiest when the entire family was together. Mr. Wantz was a member of Elias Evangelical Lutheran Church, Emmitsburg; the Korean Veterans Chapter 142, Frederick; the United Steel Worker of America Local Post 15253; and a life member of VFW Post 6658, Emmitsburg. He was the husband of Edith Hilbert Wantz for 56 years and also surviving are three sons, David Jr. and Steve Sr. both of Emmitsburg and John of Fairfield; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Jean Houck of Emmitsburg; and one brother, James "Eddie" Wantz of Emmitsburg. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred Glass and Eva Fringer; and one brother, John Joseph Wantz.
