Born February 5, 1926, in Halifax, David was a son of the Reverend and Mrs. Harold T Roe. He attended King's College in Halifax and received an MA in Literature from Dalhousie University. Born February 5, 1926, in Halifax, David was a son of the Reverend and Mrs. Harold T Roe. He attended King's College in Halifax and received an MA in Literature from Dalhousie University. David taught in England but he will be remembered most fondly by all of his former students in the Halifax schools. He began his career at Alexandra (School) and then moved to Westmount (School) and was principal of St. Andrew's (School) for 15 years. He was an Assistant Professor of Education at Mount Saint Vincent University. David also worked for 15 years as a commentator and interviewer for CBC Halifax Public Affairs in both radio and television. He was a member of the RCAF Reserve. Surviving are his wife, Doris Cooley Roe; his sister, Doris Charman; his sons, Harold and Eric; grandsons, Bryan and David. He was predeceased by his sisters, Jean Roe, Isabel Sisson; brother Harvey. The body has been cremated and a private committal service will follow. Donations can be made to the Halifax County Regional Rehabilitation Centre, Cole Harbor or the Halifax Association for Community Living.
