Emmorey, another respected citizen, had received a sudden call from his Maker to appear and render an account of his stewardship. Mr. Emmorey had come down town Friday morning in his usual health, and after attending to the morning mail, drove a pig to the Fair Grounds for exhibition. The animal was a little fractious and the exertion of driving it must have caused his death. He was taken suddenly ill. Mrs. [Emma Reeves Conklin] Emmorey and daughter, Mrs. [Jessie H. Conklin] Waters, were sitting in their buggy near by and Mr. Emmorey jumped in and was driven rapidly to his store. He got out there but just as he was passing through the door he sank to his knees and with one gasp he fell backwards and his soul took its flight. Deceased had not been in good health for a couple of years, not since he was thrown out in a runaway accident which must have injured him internally, and his sudden demise was not, therefore, so surprising to those who realized the delicate condition of his health. Mr. Emmorey had been a resident of Harrisville about eight years. He was born in 1820 and but little is known of his life previous to his coming here. In 1885 he was married to Mrs. Wm. Conklin, who survives him. In the same year he joined the Harrisville M. E. church of which he has ever since been a devout and faithful member. He was universally well liked and by honesty, fair and easy dealing had built up an excellent business in agricultural implements, buggies, wagons, stoves and tinware. The funeral services were held Sunday morning at the M. E. church and the remains were interred at South Harrisville, whither they were followed by an unusually large number of citizens. It is a singular coincidence that on last Thursday a brother of Mr. Emmorey died at Grand Rapids, Mich. No particulars are at hand.
