Elder Shroyer, of Canton, Ohio, delivered the sermon and the following songs were used: 'Tread Softly,' 'Life's Railway to Heaven,' 'Shall We Gather at the River' and 'We are Going Down the Valley.' OBITUARY David, son of Jacob and Sallie Hoover, was born May6, 1867, on the well known Hoover homestead, about three miles southwest of Hagerstown, Indiana, where, on the morning of April20, 1921, he was found dead, at the age of 53 years, 11 months and 14 days. His twin brother, Daniel, died October 23, 1872. Here, he has always lived, and for a number of years owned and operated the farm. Mr. Hoover was widely known, as travelled much and was more or less engaged in public business, and for recent years, was a member of the Wayne County Council. While Mr. Hoover was not a member of any church, yet he was peculiarly interested in the movements of the Church of the Brethren. He likely attended more of its services at the 'Brick' than any other non-member in its community. Besides, he has attended quite a number of its General Conferences, regardless of distance. He attended most, if not all of the services of the series of meetings now in progress, including the service likely but an hour before death. Of a family of ten children, four brothers and one sister preceded him in death, leaving three brothers, Elias M., Horace and Frank and one sister, Mrs. Jane Smith, all of Hagerstown, Indiana, to mourn his departure."
