Mr. Culp was born in McComb, Feb. 23, 1919 to Bonda E. Culp and Magdalena (Lehr) Culp. He married Jean Williamson April 12, 1941 and she died Feb. 20, 2008. Surviving is a son Gary (Melinda) Culp of Arcadia; and a daughter Nancy Culp of Kenton. Read More	############### The Courier May 4, 2011 David Dwight Culp age 92 of McComb died Monday May 2, 2011 1:45 p.m. at The Sunrise Assisted Living Center in Findlay. Mr. Culp was born in McComb, Feb. 23, 1919 to Bonda E. Culp and Magdalena (Lehr) Culp. He married Jean Williamson April 12, 1941 and she died Feb. 20, 2008. Surviving is a son Gary (Melinda) Culp of Arcadia; and a daughter Nancy Culp of Kenton. There are 4 grandchildren Linnea (Brian) Fletcher, David (Terri) Minard, Greg Minard, Malissa Mareches, and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne William in 1927. Mr. Culp graduated from McComb High School in 1938; Senior Class President; Capt. of McComb High School football team. He was in the United States Air Force 1942-1945; Served in England during World War II in The 8th Air Force 448th Bomb Group; in 30 combat missions of occupied Europe. He was awarded the Air Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters; and the Distinguished Flying Cross for Valor. He was a life long farmer on his family farm and created Culp Electric. He was a member of the Morrison-Moorehead VFW Post 9231 of McComb, the Mulford-Butler American Legion Post 511 of McComb; The Airplane Owners and Pilots Association. Mr. Culp was the Republican Central Committeeman for Portage Township. He served on the McComb Public Library Board and was a past president of the board. He led the Memorial Day Color Guard Firing Squad in McComb for over 30 years; He was an American Red Cross EMT instructor in Findlay and Tampa, FL; he worked in Health & Safety Service, teaching CPR and basic first aid; was the Sun City Center Volunteer Emergency Medical Service Volunteer of the Month, also was a driver, first responder, instructor at theJames A. Haley Veteran's Administration Hospital in Tampa, FL; He was the recipient of the Good Samaritan Service Award (triage department primary care unit), served as the Community Center Exercise Room Monitor in Sun City Center, FL and at the McComb Community Fitness Center at the McComb School. Some of his interests included private pilot, water skiing, constructing and flying model airplanes, reading, dancing, listening to big band music, setting up the McComb Pre-Harvest Festival, Culp genealogy. Visitation will be on Thursday May 5, 2011 4-8 p.m. at the HARTLEY FUNERAL HOME in McComb. The funeral service will be on Friday May 6, 2011 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Linda Zaye officiating. Burial will be in McComb Union Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites being performed by the Hancock County Veteran's Squad.
