Read More	Obituary David Eugene Armstrong was born in Harrison county, Indiana, October 14th, 1863, and departed this life at his home in Sargent, Nebraska, August 7th, 1922, at the age of 58 years, 9 months and 24 days. When he was four years of age his parents moved to Nebraska, locating on a farm several miles from York in York county, where he grow to manhood. He came to Custer county in 1890 locating in the Dry Valley country north of Westerville . December 24th, 1893, he was married to Miss Ella Wood. To this union three children were born, Leroy of ScottsBluff, Nebr., and Allona and Gaylord of this city. In addition to his wife and children he leaves to mourn his death one brother and two sisters: Wm. J. Armstrong of Rapid City, South Dakota; Mrs. M. W. Neff of Newkirk, Oklahoma; and Mrs. A. W. Holcomb of Hastings, Nebr., who was present at the funeral. While living on the farm near Coburg a few days before his death he called his family he was prepared to go. Mr. Armstrong and family moved to Sargent nearly twenty years ago, and he was engaged in the well business here. He was a good citizen, a kind neighbor, a fond father and a loving husband. He had many friends and very few enemies, if any. The funeral was held in the Methodist church Thursday afternoon, beginning at two o'clock, a very large crowd of old friends and neighbors having come to pay their respects to his memory. The pall bearers were C. A. J. Reier, F. J. Abbott, C. H. Kiker, J. G. Wirsig, W . P. Brown. The singing was by a mixed quartette composed of O. M. Scott, Miss Marie Scott, Mrs. S. D. Wheeler, and Kenneth Crownover. Mrs. John Myers accompanied at the piano. The body was in a fine casket covered with beautiful drab colored cloth and it was loaded with beautiful flowers. The first song was "The city Four Square" which was followed by Rev. E. H Maynard, formerly pastor of the M. E church here but now at Loup City, being called because he was especially friendly to the family and interested in them. Prayer was followed by the singing of "Rock of Ages. " Rev. Maynard then read for the scripture lesson from the nineteenth chapter of St. John’s gospel. Miss Marie Scott sang “The End of a Perfect Day” and using as his text "He hath sent Me to bind up the broken-hearted and to comfort all that mourn" from the sixty-first chapter of Isaiah, Rev. Maynard preached a very comforting funeral sermon. The closing song was “Abide with Me”. The casket was opened, the people viewed the remains, the procession went to the Sargent Cemetery where interment was made.
