Description	:	Son of Ephraim Fisk Sr. (born April 19, 1774, and he died July 1859 in Geneva, Kansas), and his wife Sarah "Sally" Morse (born May (23or28), 1777 in Newbury Mass. and died in June 1848 in Statford, N.Y.). Ephraim and Sarah were married on June 22, 1795, and had nine children, (all born in Strafford, Orange County Vermont), including: 1. Dorothy "Dolly" Fisk (1796-1822). She married Sabin Jenkins and lived in Wyoming County New York. 2. Philema Fisk. 3. Mary Fisk (1806-1888). She married William Preston and lived in Mt. Pleasant, Isabella County Michigan. 4. (Per article published in the "Berrien County Record" newspaper, in Buchanan, Michigan, on May 14, 1931, page 5, titled: "The Old Timer's Corner: Glimpse of School Mutiny 100 Yrs. Ago Is Afforded by Old Document"). This article tells of when nine of the "larger" boys in the school locked Mr. Fisk out of the school, and handed out a notice requiring "treats" as a condition of admittance. This article also mentions his sons B. F. [Benjamin Franklin] Fisk, and C. L. [Crestus L.] Fisk. ---------------------------- In the 1850 census of Berrien County Michigan, David's father Ephraim Fisk [Sr.], age 76, a widower, born 1774 in Mass., is living with David. --- Note: Ephraim [Sr.] then went to live with or near his sons Ephraim Jr. and Joseph Fisk, in Geneva, Allen County Kansas, where he died on July 20, 1859. -------------------------- David Fisk married: # 1. Lucinda Platts. Born 1819, in Indiana. Died Aug. 2, 1855, in Berrien County Michigan, at the age of 36 years, 2 months, and 6 days. --- Children with Lucinda: (all born in Michigan) --- 1. Benjamin Franklin Fisk. b. 1840. m. Amanda H. Batchelor, on July 1, 1874, in Berrien Co. MI. B. F. Fisk once served as the Treasurer of Buchanan township. d. March 11, 1928, in Buchanan, MI, age 87. Buried: Oak Ridge Cemetery. --- 2. Sarah Ellen (Fisk) Downing. b. 1842 or 1843. m. Alexander ("Alex") L. Downing. Children: Nellie (Downing) Keefer. d. March 21, 1920, in Galien, Berrien County Michigan, age 77. --- 3. Mary A. Fisk. b. about 1844. --- 4. Martha Fisk. b. about 1846. --- 5. Alsina J. Fisk (female) (1848-1851). Fisk (Male) b. about Jan. of 1855. 1900 census: in Faulk, South Dakota (age about 45, and single). 1930 census: in Sandy, Clackamas County Oregon (age 75, and single). ______________________________ Note: Lucinda died in 1855. ----------------------- David was married to # 2. Mitla ("Mittie") C. French on Nov. 28, 1860. She is the daughter of Titus French Sr., and his wife Elizabeth ("Betsey") Thayer. --- After David's death, Mittie lived in Cassopolis, Michigan (possibly with her brother). ----------------------- David served as a Justice of the Peace in Buchanan township, in 1868, and 1869 (per "History of Berrien and Van Buren Counties Michigan", page 178). Also in 1872 (per "Berrien County Directory and History", by Edward B. Cowles, page 14). --- David also served as a School Inspector in Buchanan township, in 1856, 1867, and 1868. ---------------------------------- David died in 1878, at the age of 63 years, 3 months, and 5 days (per his death certificate). ---- His death certificate lists his occupation as a mechanic. ------------------------------ David is buried with both of his wives, and three of his children, in Section 20, Lot 17. -------------------------
