Wills, 2009: "David Gilmore was born in Limerick, Ireland, in Feb 1699 and died in Woolwich on June 21, 1786. He was bur. in the Nequasset Cemetery. David married Mary Pearson in Ireland ca. 1728. Mary, the daughter of William and Ann (Brough) Pearson, was born in Limerick, Ireland, ca. 1708 and died in Georgetown (now Woolwich) on September 20, 1755. Wills, 2009: "David Gilmore was born in Limerick, Ireland, in Feb 1699 and died in Woolwich on June 21, 1786. He was bur. in the Nequasset Cemetery. David married Mary Pearson in Ireland ca. 1728. Mary, the daughter of William and Ann (Brough) Pearson, was born in Limerick, Ireland, ca. 1708 and died in Georgetown (now Woolwich) on September 20, 1755. David was of Scottish ancestry and belonged to the Anglican Church, High Church of England. He came to America with his young son, William, and settled in Georgetown (now) Woolwich. In March 1735 he signed a deed to buy from Zachariah Trescott the farm bordering the creek, known as lot #35. In 1738 David sent for his wife and two other children, James and Nancy. Indian raids were common during those early days and at night the family went across the creek to stay at the Savage stockade in Nequasset. His descendants are still living the same land after all these years. On May 30, 1759, he signed the petition to separate from Georgetown and to incorporate as the town of Woolwich. David was elected selectman and assessor on March 4, 1760, March 10, 1766, March 3, 1767, March 7, 1768, and the March 6, 1769, town meetings; deer keeper on March 4, 1765; and constable on March 1, 1773. David along with his sons, William and David Jr., and some of his neighbors were branded as Tories. They refused to bow to the dictates of the Committee of Safety led by Nathaniel Thwing and Rev.
