Jasmer, a former business man, which occurred at the home of his sister, Agnes Watson, on Friday morning at 2:10. Mr. Jasmer had been in failing health for sometime, but his illness had not become critical until the last two weeks. His passing was due to heart affliction. Mr. Jasmer at one time was engaged in the drug business in Creighton and was successful in this enterprise. He was a man of intelligence and integrity and had gained the entire confidence and esteem of the people among whom he resided for so many years. The passing of Dave Jasmer removes from Creighton one of its men, whose high sense of honor and kindly courtesy made for him many sincere friends. David Gilson Jasmer was born November 23, 1862 at Cleveland, Ohio and died March 3, 1933, aged 70 years, 2 months and 10 days. His grandmother, whose maiden name was Putnam, was a granddaughter of Gen. Putnam of Revolutionary fame. He moved with his parents to St. Catherine, Mo. in the spring of 1874, where they went for his father's health and lived on a farm, later moving to town. In 1882 he went to Laclede, Mo., where he worked as agent for the Hannibal & St. Joe R.R. Here he met and became well acquainted with Genl. John J. Pershing. In 1887 he came to Creighton and was connected with Joseph Horkey in the general merchandise business. Later he engaged in the drug business for several years. He was married December 3, 1894 to Alla Mabel Cheney to which union two children were born, Mildred Mabel and Josephine Arvilla, the last dying at the age of three years. In 1911 he disposed of his drug business and a few years later went to Council Bluffs, Ia., where he held a position with the Harley-Hass Drug Co. for several years. He returned to Creighton about 9 years ago and made his home with his sister, Agnes B. Watson, until his death last Friday. He leaves to mourn his loss one daughter, Mrs. Mildred M. Peterson of Webster City, Iowa; three brothers, Allen A. Jasmer of Chillicothe, Mo., Thomas O. Finson of Omaha, Neb., Elmer F. Finson of Los Angeles, California; three sisters, Agnes B. Watson and Mrs. H. A. Cheney of Creighton and Mrs. Charles Pierce of Missoula, Mont. Funeral services were held last Monday morning at 10:30 at the St. Mark's Episcopal church, conducted by Rev. Luther W. Gramley. The floral tributes were beautiful. Many friends were in attendance at the services to pay final respect to their fellowman. Members of the Masonic lodge, of which the deceased was a member, attended the last rites in a body and conducted their ritual service at the grave. The body was laid to rest in Greenwood cemetery. Due to illness the only out of town relatives present at the last rites were Tom Finson, a brother of Omaha and Kenneth Peterson, a son-in-law of Webster City, Ia. Mrs. Peterson was called here a couple of weeks ago and was with her father during his illness and death. To relatives of the departed, we extend sincere sympathy in their sad bereavement.
