Mr. Nester was born in Carroll County on May 27, 1959. He was preceded in death by his father, Hassell Nester, and two sisters, Rhonda Delp and Sandra Lineberry. Nester, 61 of Laurel Fork, passed away on Tuesday, December 22, 2020, at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center. Mr. Nester was born in Carroll County on May 27, 1959. He was preceded in death by his father, Hassell Nester, and two sisters, Rhonda Delp and Sandra Lineberry. David worked for the department of corrections for over 27 years and most recently worked at River North in Independence. He was a long-time member of Crooked Oak Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Wanda Nester; daughter, LeAnn Meredith and Joseph; son, Darren Nester and Jodi; mother, Charlene Rippey; sisters and brothers-in-law, Janet and David Nester, Nancy and Jimmy Wiles, and Anita Zehnder; brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Missi Nester; grandchildren, Jonathan Ratcliff, Jaiden Ratcliff, Dillon Nester, and Devan Nester; two fur babies, Rocky and Bailey; sisters-in-law and spouses, Lola and Wayne Horton, Kay and Ernie Burcham, and Joan and Eddie Griffin; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 27, 2020, at Crooked Oak Baptist Church at 2:00 PM with Rev. Sandy Hendrick officiating. Burial will follow in the Crooked Oak Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Sunday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM prior to the service.
