Kaisand, Henry Mkelsen, Sumner Squiers, Emil Hanus and Tom Davis. Internment was in the Maple Hill Cemetery at Montour. David, son of Frederick and Elizabeth Barndt Hofer, was born June 30, 1880 in a log cabin in the Oak Grove Community four miles northwest of Toledo, where he was reared and attended the rural school near his home. His marriage to Miss Jennie McGee, occurred on July 4, 1901 in Toledo. The couple began housekeeping on a farm in Indian Village Township. He farmed for himself and worked on farms in the Toledo and Tama area. They lived for 29 years on an acreage two miles west of Tama, and in October of 1961 retired and moved to 406 Hall St., in Tama, where he had resided until after the death of his wife three weeks ago on May 14. Since that time he had lived with his daughter, Mr. Hofers unexpected death was caused by a ruptured blood vessel in the abdomen. He was taken ill the night before. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Lester (Flossie) Vail, Tama, Mrs. Car (Gladys) Marquis, Marshalltown, and two sons, Glenn R. of Bellflower, Calif., and Leonard D. of Albia, Iowa. Also 15 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. Proceeding him in death besides his wife, were his parents, and 3 brother, Thomas, Daniel of Toledo, Joseph, of Garwin, and two sisters, Mrs. Tom (Cora) Masters, and Mrs. Clifford (Orpha) Wilkerson, both of Toledo. Also proceeding him in death was a grandson, Richard Glen Hofer in infancy and a great grandson, Mark Allen Vail, Son of Glenn Vail, on February 21, 1955
