Description	:	Our loving Dad, David H. Friesen, son of Gerhard and Katharina Huebert Friesen was born on April 6, 1913 in Hamilton County, Nebraska. He went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 12, 2004 at the age of 91 ½ years. He lived in the Henderson Community until November of 2000. His daughter Velda and husband Mike cared for Dad in their home for the last 2 years and 3 months of his life. Dad was a farmer and did some carpenter work after retiring from the farm. He enjoyed making projects from wood for us girls... Read More	Our loving Dad, David H. Friesen, son of Gerhard and Katharina Huebert Friesen was born on April 6, 1913 in Hamilton County, Nebraska. He went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 12, 2004 at the age of 91 ½ years. He lived in the Henderson Community until November of 2000. His daughter Velda and husband Mike cared for Dad in their home for the last 2 years and 3 months of his life. Dad was a farmer and did some carpenter work after retiring from the farm. He enjoyed making projects from wood for us girls – table, desk, cabinet, cradle, etc. Dad received Jesus as his personal Savior at the age of 21. He was baptized by the Reverend John F. Epp and became a member of the Bethesda Mennonite Church in Henderson, NE. Dad was always a very faithful church member and enjoyed serving God in a variety of ways, one being, going with a group of men from the Bethesda Church to help some missionaries that worked with and ministered to the Hopi Nation, to do some special projects. He had a tremendous interest in missions and has supported many missionaries by prayer and finances. He also enjoyed the Hamilton County Crusade for Christ meetings in Aurora and the tent meetings in Henderson every summer. On October 25, 1933 Dad was united in marriage to Anna Ott. Together they shared life's joys and sorrows for 42 years. Dad often expressed his and Mom's gratefulness to the Lord for the privilege of adopting not only 1, but 2 daughters. Dad told us that story over and over again and we never tired of hearing it. Dad said to us girls so many times that it was a joy he and mom would never be able to express in words. Dad enjoyed being involved in the ministry of the Grace Children's Home, and therefore enjoyed many of the children there. One of those special children was Jim Lee Dye. Dad Barkman asked Dad if he and mom would keep Jim for a time and they truly enjoyed Jim. Dad has thought of Jim as a son. In fact, Jim wanted to give JoAnn her middle name of Ruth which the folks did. Jim has kept in touch weekly, especially these last 8-10 years. After Anna went to be with the Lord on December 2, 1975, Dad married Lena Remple Hiebner in June of 1976. They shared 20 years of marriage in which they enjoyed traveling and visiting their family in different parts of the country. We are so thankful to the Lord for all Dad's faithfulness to us in so many areas. Family devotions were a special time of sharing in our growing up years. Dad's desire for us first of all was to have a personal relationship with Jesus. He also taught us the importance of reading God's Word and hiding it in our hearts. One of the neatest things was for us to hear Dad praying for us. When Velda would put Dad to bed at night he often prayed and sang for a long time, usually singing "Whiter Than Snow" and some favorite German songs. He definitely had a deep relationship with his God. Dad's unselfishness and deep concern for family and friends has been such a blessing and encouragement to us. We are so thankful to the Lord for placing us in a home with godly parents. We are forever grateful. Survivors include daughters, JoAnn Ruth and her husband Lee Lantzer of Milan, MI and Velda Kay and husband Mike Brady of Lincoln, NE; five grandchildren, Joni Leigh Lantzer Odermann of Lewistown, MT, Angela Faith Lantzer Phelps of Denton, MT, Kelli Marie Lantzer Hofer of Pueblo, CO, Ryan Brady of Sterling, NE and Nathan Brady of Lincoln, NE; eleven great-grandchildren; Lee and Donna Dye of Muncie, IN; step-children, Thomas Lloyd & Rubena Hiebner and Dewayne and Sharon Hiebner all of Henderson, Marlyce Hiebner and Evelyn and Virgil Ediger of Omaha and Twila and Clarence Busenitz of Pea Body, KS; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. Survivors also include a sister, Marie Friesen of Henderson, a brother Levi H. Friesen and his wife Elizabeth of Aurora; a sister-in-law Esther Friesen and brother-in-law Marvin Siebert, both of Henderson; and several nieces and nephews. Dad was preceded in death by his parents, wife Anna of 42 years, wife Lena of 20 years, one brother Rueben H. Friesen, sister Tena Epp, step-son Ronald Hiebner and step-great-grandaughter Shannon Thiesen. Funeral services were, October 18, 2004 at the Faith Evangelical Bible Church in Henderson with the Rev. Lee Lantzer officiating. Burial was in the Friesen Cemetery, Henderson. Memorials may be directed to the family.
