He was born on January 6, 1934 in Elkhart to John Henry and Susie (Hostetler) Whetstone. On November 25, 1965 in Elkhart County he married Aletha Barbara Miller; she died May 12, 2012. Surviving are two daughters, Dorene Adams of Ft. Wayne, Anita (Wendell) Bradford of Deltona, FL; son, Brandt D. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; sister, Fannie Hochstetler; four brothers Jonathon, Amos, Joe and Don Whetstone. David worked at area factories and was an active member of First United Methodist Church, Middlebury. He loved playing the harmonica to family and friends and making everyone smile. His favorite sons were playing and singing "You Are My Sunshine" and "Amazing Grace". He adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, May 5, at the Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 South Main Street Middlebury. There will also be one hour of visitation prior to the 11:00 am funeral services on Saturday, May 6, at the First Methodist Church, 301 South Main Street Middlebury. Services will be conducted by Pastor Ron Russell. Burial will be in Grace Lawn Cemetery, Middlebury. Memorials may be given to the funeral home to assist with expenses.
