Description	:	Dave Henry Schledewitz passed away at Silver Springs Assisted Living in Townsend, MT on July 12, 2019. Dad was born on September 5, 1924 near Froid, MT to Dan and Ella (Krueger) Schledewitz. He graduated from Culbertson High School in 1942 and was drafted into the Army in May of 1943 and served in the Pacific Theater until December 1945. Read More	Dave Henry Schledewitz passed away at Silver Springs Assisted Living in Townsend, MT on July 12, 2019. Dad was born on September 5, 1924 near Froid, MT to Dan and Ella (Krueger) Schledewitz. He graduated from Culbertson High School in 1942 and was drafted into the Army in May of 1943 and served in the Pacific Theater until December 1945. He returned to Culbertson and met Dorothy Damm at a dance at the Legion Hall. Mom and Dad were married on November 9, 1946 in Froid. From this union 3 children were born, Clyde, Sheryl and Arliss. They farmed north of Culbertson for a few years, later moving to Culbertson where he was employed by Oelkers Service Station and for Culbertson Implement as a parts man for John Deere. Dad transferred with John Deere in January 1967 to Townsend, MT where he was employed with Strong and Bradley Implement. He worked for United Building Center for a short time and later went to work for the Helena School System as a Maintenance Engineer retiring in 1988. Dad and Mom spent the next 16 winters in Yuma AZ where they enjoyed the warm weather and made many lasting friendships and a Saturday night dance was often enjoyed. They traveled with their motorhome and also took several bus trips across the U.S. One of the bus trips was to Washington D.C. for the World War II Memorial Dedication and Dave also took two Honor Flight trips. They enjoyed two vacations to Germany and one to Hawaii. Dad enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing, playing cards and spending time with family and friends. He was a member of the Volunteer Fire Dept in Culbertson and Townsend and served on the church council in both communities. Dad enjoyed following the Townsend Bulldogs high school sports and watching baseball and football. Dad is survived by his son Clyde (Carol) of East Helena, Sheryl (Clayton McElravy) of Townsend and Arliss (Dave Sakos) of Rapid City, SD. He is also survived by grandson Travis (Rhonda) Schledewitz of Helena, granddaughters Kris (Shane Schmaus) of Montana City, Keirstin Bristow of Moorehead MN and Michelle (Greg Scott) of Helena. Great grandchildren Jayme, Adam, Kaylee, Alayna, Ava and Joshua. Also his sister Lorena Hekkel of Culbertson and Ila Mattingley of Yuma AZ. He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy of 67 years, parents, brothers Lavern, Wilbert, Ray and sister Lenora. Our family would like to thank Tony and Emily Simonson and the staff at Silver Springs Assisted Living for the love and excellent care they gave him for the past 2 ½ years, Frontier Hospice and to Dr. Diane Nowak and her staff. Funeral services will be Friday, July 19 with a visitation at 10:00 a.m. with a family and friends service starting at 11:00 a.m. at the Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home, 3750 North Montana Ave, Helena. A luncheon will immediately follow the service at the funeral home reception hall. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. at the Montana State Veterans Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Silver Springs Assisted Living, 35 Carroll Drive, Townsend, MT 59644 or the donor’s choice.
