Mr. Herbel had been under treatment for a heart condition for about a year. Funeral services for Mr. Herbel will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m. at the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Hoisington with Rev. Max Gelssler officiating. Burial will be in the Hoisington Cemetery. Mr. Herbel had been under treatment for a heart condition for about a year. Funeral arrangements are being made by the Russell Mortuary and the Burgat Funeral Home in Hoisington. Mr. Herbel was born in Russia on October 16, 1891, and came to this country in 1910. Employed as a railroad worker, he had lived in Kansas City, Galatia and Hoisington before he and Mrs. Herbel moved to Russell two years ago after building a new brick home here. He had been a machinist for the Missouri Pacific Railroad until his retirement four years ago. He was united in marriage with the former Marie Rickert in Kansas City in 1914. She preceded him in death in 1949. He and his second wife, the former Josephine Boxberger, were married on April 18, 1951. She survives him. In addition to his wife, of the home, he is survived by five daughters: Mrs. Vernon (Lydia) Ochs, Mrs. Thomas J. (Marie) Buffington, Mrs. David (Frieda) Calloway, Mrs. Clayton (Hilda) Karst and Mrs. Verlin (Jeanette) Smith, all of Hoisington; 14 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Two sons and a daughter preceded him in death in addition to his first wife. Other survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Mollie Becker, of Kansas City and Mrs. Ann Snider, of Denver. Colo.
