No probate record can be found in the Windham, Conn. or other probate district records. On Aug. 28, 1783 at Windham, David m. at the Scotland Society Church, then within the Town of Windham, Conn., Anna Robinson, dau. of Lieut. Jacob Robinson and Anna Tracy, b. Nov. 4, 1761 at Windham. However, nine children of the children were group baptized at the Windham First Church Aug. 1, 1802, but individually listed in alphabetical name order and not as a single group of named children that would suggest their chronological birth order: • i. David Hovey, Jr., b. of record at Windham, Conn. Mar. 19, 1784 (bp. Aug. 1, 1802); was living at Windham Nov. 3, 1815 when he was appointed by the Windham Probate Court guardian of his 19 year old brother Harden Hovey. • ii. Nancy Hovey, b. after Dec. 6, 1786 (bp. Aug. 1, 1802), d. Dec. 6, 1858 at Mansfield, Conn., Æ 72 (g.s.); m. Aug. 2, 1807 at Windham, Eliphalet Lyman, s. James Lyman and Jerusha Woodward, b. after Aug. 29, 1787. He d. Aug. 29, 1859 at Mansfield, Conn., Æ 72 (g.s.) Eight children of the family. • iii. Betsey Hovey, b. aft. June 26, 1788 (bp. Aug. 1, 1802), d. June 26, 1858 at Windham, Conn., Æ 70 (g.s.); m. Nov. 28, 1814 at Windham, Erastus Fitch, s. Stephen Fitch and Sarah Buckingham, b. aft. Jan. 7, 1790. He d. Jan. 7, 1857 at Windham, Æ 67 (g.s.) Three recorded children. • iv. Samuel Hovey, b. aft. Aug. 30, 1791 (no bp. record) who d. in infancy Aug. 20, 1798, "in the 7th year of his age" (g.s.) • v. Laura Hovey, b. aft. June 7, 1794 (bp. Aug. 1, 1802), d. Jan. 7, 1865 at the Borough of Willimantic, Conn. (since dissolved as a separate municipal entity within the Town of Windham, Conn.), Æ 71 (g.s.); m. Apr. 3, 1822 at Windham, Edward Fitch, s. of Stephen Fitch and Sarah Buckingham, b. aft. Sept. 25, 1795. He d. Sept. 25, 1850 at the Borough of Willimantic, Conn., Æ 55 (g.s.) No children have been isolated to this couple. • vi. Harden Hovey, b. Apr. 2, 1796 (bp. Aug. 1, 1802); was living on Nov. 3, 1815 when his brother David was appointed his guardian, in which the guardian's bond states Harden was 19 years old "Apr. 2 last;" not further traced. • vii. Samuel Tracy Hovey, b. Aug. 6, 1800 (bp Aug. 1, 1802), d. in Jan. 1886 at Urbana, OH; m. Rachel E. Comer at Milford Center, Union County, OH, who d. Sept. 3, 1890 at Urbana, OH. Ten children of the family. The following three children were also individually baptized as part of the children of David Hovey at the Windham First Church, listed below in alphabetical order. Not further traced at the present time. • viii. Edmund Hovey, bp. Aug. 1, 1802. • ix. Lucius Abbe Hovey, bp. Aug. 1, 1802. • x. Vine Hovey (likely named after his maternal uncle Vine Robinson), bp. Aug. 1, 1802. On Dec. 21, 1817 at Windham, the widow Anna (Robinson) Hovey m. as his third wife, her 1st cousin James Robinson of Windham. There were no children by this second marriage.
