Read More	son of Lorraine and Lorena Thurm On Saturday, August 18, 2012, David James Thurm passed away at his home surrounded by his family in Denver, Iowa, from cancer. He was born on April 18, 1953, in Denver, Iowa, to Lorena and Lorraine Thurm. He attended Denver High School and graduated in 1971. On April 8th, 1973, he married Carol Lynn Gilbert. He has always called Denver his home. David began his career with John Deere in 1973 and retired in May of this year after 39 years of service. He began his interest with farming, and its many facets, as a small child being raised on his family farm. In turn, Dave passed along his love of farming to his own sons and grandsons. Dave and his brother, Allen Thurm, continued farming together on the family farm, with help from their own children and grandchildren. Dave will be remembered for his dedication to his family, trusted advice, his unconditional love, strong work ethic, his strong sense of pride in whatever he did, and a child at heart when he played with his grandchildren. David is survived by his wife, Carol of Denver, two sons; Chad (Nicole) Thurm of Williamsburg, and Neal (Tonia) Thurm of Denver, five grandchildren; Clayton, Kyler, Jenna, Miranda and Mylee, his mother, Lorena Thurm of Denver, two brothers, Allen (Tracy) Thurm of Denver; Ronald (Linda) Thurm of Sumner; a sister-in-law, Dixie Thurm of Denver; and multiple nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Lorraine, his father and mother-in-law, Ronald and Barbara Gilbert, a brother, Gerald Thurm and a nephew, Scott Thurm. Relatives and friends are welcome to the visitation at Kaiser Corson, 110 South State Street in Denver, Iowa, on Tuesday, August 22 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, August 23, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 540 East Franklin Street, Denver, Iowa. Burial will be at St. Peter Cemetery following the service. Relatives and friends are welcome at the reception at St. Peter Church immediately following the burial, from 12 to 2 p.m.
