Born (12-2-1950) in Hastings to Kenneth J. and Dolores (Lewandowski) Joyce. Carpenter all his life, currently owned DJ's Carpentry. Member of Raymond United Methodist Church; loved going out and doing for someone else! He was not afraid to ask if he didn't know something. He wanted to retire by the water, loved the water, fishing, camping and boating; loved to travel. Dave was a medical officer for the Raymond Fire & Rescue for 29 years; he was an EMT and CPR and defibrillator instructor. He once served the Village of Raymond as mayor, Water/Waste Water Treatment operator. Currently served as building inspector and Town Board member. Served as a medic in the U.S. Army National Guard, 24th Med-Lincoln. Family members include: wife, Maurice (Meyer) Saunders-Joyce of Raymond; daughter, Jennifer Lee Joyce of Raymond; son, Jayson Joyce of Creston, Iowa; step-sons, Theodore A. "Ted" Saunders of Lincoln; Zachary D. Saunders of Raymond; brothers, Ken "Butch" Joyce of Brodhead, Wis.; Dennis "Denny" Joyce and wife, Mary of Ontario, Calif.; Tim Joyce of Palm Springs, Calif.; sisters, Carol and husband Mike Wise of Lincoln, Kan.; Gloria Gardner of Las Vegas; Paula Joyce of Palm Springs, Calif.; brother-in-law, Red DeWeese of Mountain Center, Calif.; former wife and friend Lois Joyce of Raymond; many, many close friends, nieces, nephews and other relatives. Preceded in death by parents and sister, Judy. Funeral service: 11 a.m. Monday (10-17-11) Raymond Fire Station, 4210 W. Raymond Rd. Pastor Rod Lyon, officiating. Burial following at the Agnew Cemetery in Agnew. Visitation: 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, with family greeting friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Roper and Sons, 4300 'O' Street. Memorials to the family.
