He was married to Leona Nunally. He was preceded in death by his father, 2 brothers, and one sister. He is survived by his wife, 2 sons (Robert, 14, and Ralph 12), his mother, 3 brothers (Clarence, Leonard, and Raymond, near Riverside, Iowa), and 3 sisters (Mrs. Alta Hays, Washington, Iowa; Mrs. Mary Hudnall and Mrs. Glenn Lambert, Tulsa, Okla.). He was received by baptism into the Salem Church in 1925 and later united with the Mennonite Church where he remained a faithful member until death.
