Read More	David Christman Nov. 26, 1920-October 8, 2005 David Lyle Christman was born November 26, 1920, in Monona County, Iowa, the son of William Riley and Anna Marie Jensen Christman. He died Saturday, October 8, 2005, at the Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of eighty-four. David received his education at the Ute Public School, graduating with the class of 1940. He farmed one year before entering the United States Navy in August 1942 and was honorably discharged on December 23, 1945 serving on the Battleship Nevada in World War II. He continued farming on the family farm until his retirement. On September 5, 1948, David was united in marriage to Lois Nelson at Grace Lutheran Church in Wayne, Nebraska. To this union four children were born, one died in infancy. The couple farmed and lived in Ute, Iowa. Lois passed away on March 11, 1972. David married Joyce M. Heath of New York State on June 13, 1992. Joyce passed away September 25, 2003. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ute, having been quite active serving as usher, playing on the dart ball team, and friendship club. He was also a member of the American Legion Aaby Post #442 in Ute. David was a 4-H leader, Boy Scout leader from 1961 to 1972. He enjoyed bowling league every Tuesday night from 1947 to 1955 in Mapleton, Dunlap and Denison. He loved anything to do with farming, loved going to his children's and grandchildren's ball games. He also enjoyed going camping with his family and going on trips with family and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Lois and his wife, Joyce; one son in infancy; and three brothers, Laurence and Delbert, both in infancy and Gerald Christman. Survivors include two sons, Dwight Christman of Des Moines; Byron Christman and his wife, Lori of Ute; one daughter, Deon Greder of Ricketts; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Merle Nelson and his wife, Billie of Augusta, Kansas; Albert Nelson Jr. and his wife, Janelle of Wakefield, Nebraska; two sisters-in-law, Bonnie Frevert and her husband, Glen of Winside, Nebraska; and Erma Hargroves of Ida Grove; his step-children, Ricky Heath, Marvin Heath, Alan Heath, Andrew Heath, Doreen Chrysler, Melissa Gordon and Nancy Standish; numerous step-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 10, 2005 at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ute, Iowa. Rev. Ed Brandt officiated the service and grave side rites held at the St. Clair Cemetery in Ute. Lynette Thies provided the organ accompaniment for congregational hymns, "My Hope Is Built on Nothing Less" and "I'm But A Stranger Here" and "I Know That My Redeemer Lives". A scripture service was held at 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the Huebner Funeral Home in Charter Oak. Honorary pallbearers were Tory Greder (Activated Armed Services), Jacqueline Hageman, Amber Burnham, Lacey Christman, Jessica Koch and Lois Greder. Pallbearers were Herbert Neumann, Justin Hageman, Norman Timm, Eldon Teut, Henry Buschmann, Chad Burnham, Gordon Carritt and Jason Koch. Military honors were the Ute American Legion Post 442. The family invited everyone in attendance at the service to join them in fellowship and lunch at the church, served by the Ladies Aid.
