A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, August 11, 2018, at American Lutheran Church, De Smet, with Pastor Cheryl Matthews officiating. Visitation hours are 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, August 10, 2018, at American Lutheran Church, De Smet. David Lynn Lee, age 73, was born to Morris and Mildred Lee at Arlington, SD, on September 18, 1944. He grew up on their family farm on the north side of Lake Henry, near De Smet, SD. He attended Trail School and graduated from De Smet High School in 1962. After high school, he served with the National Guard for three years. He married Linda Johnson, of De Smet, on September 14, 1968, at De Smet and the couple farmed on the family farm until moving to Arlington in 1969. In 1972, they returned to the farm, becoming a 3rd generation family farm. In 1983, he worked at the Kingsbury County Courthouse as Director of Equalization until 2004, and continued to farm until he retired and moved into the city of De Smet in 2011. He was a member of the American Legion, the De Smet Township Board, South Dakota Accessing Board, SDAAO Executive Board, and served on the American Lutheran Church Board. He enjoyed playing cards, Sudoko puzzles, dominoes, going out for dinner on Friday nights and attending his granddaughter’s activities. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Linda Lee, De Smet; sons He was preceded in death by his parents, Morris and Mildred Lee; his sister, Arlene Van Ningen; and a brother in-law, Norman Van Ningen.
