Read More	Wenatchee World - Wednesday, September 26, 2012 David Nathaniel Weaver August 28, 1918 ~ September 21, 2012 David Nathaniel Weaver, age 94, a Badger Mountain pioneer, passed away peacefully at home Friday, September 21, 2012. He was born in his family's log house on August 28, 1918, to Charles Joseph and Neva Meridith Weaver. He attended Beaver Creek School, completing the eighth grade. At the young age of 15, he took over the 200 acres of wheat land on the home place, due to his father's illness and continued to be active in ranching until 2001, at 83 years old. In his younger years, he took in horses to break and competed in Saddle Bronc riding in the mid 1930s. Dave married his childhood neighbor and friend, Hazel C. Johnson, in 1938. In the 1960s, Dave hauled his family to a few rodeos during the summer when time allowed, his Ranch always came first. He enjoyed an occasional Idaho Elk hunt, family fishing trip and was an avid Trap Shooter, belonging to the NCW Gun Club and Wenatchee Gun Club. Dave loved to read any western novel that he could get his hands on and did so up until one week before his passing. He had many stories to tell about the Indians setting up their camps back where the old roping arena sat. When he was old enough, he enjoyed a good horse race against them! Rounding up wild horses that ran on the Doneen Ranch. Then bucking them out with the other cowboys off The Mountain and from around the Wenatchee Valley. It has been told you couldn't get him bucked off no matter what horse you put him on! Dave was a member of the Washington Cattlemen's Association and started his cow herd by keeping the heifers born from his milk cows. A few years later, he purchased eight beef heifers from Leo Biram; that got the ball rolling for the cow/calf operation on the ranch. He lived to work his ranch and to make sure his family was cared for. We will miss his face and forever hear his voice. May God embrace him and take him home. Dave is survived by his children, Judy (Bill) Schneider, Dale (Sandy) Weaver, Meridith (Greg) Heideman and Melodie Gutzwiler; special family members, Jim (Mary) Hart and Jay (Margaret) Hart; grandchildren, Darcy Bachelor, Billy Schneider, David Schneider, Dotty Cordell, Mike Weaver, Chuck Weaver, Vickie Robins, Katie Jones, Heather Thompson, Justin Heideman, Nathaniel Gutzwiler and Nick Gutzwiler; and numerous great-grandchildren. Graveside Service will be held on Friday, September 28, 2012, at 1:30 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Park in East Wenatchee, WA. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 27, 2012, from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Jones & Jones~Betts Memorial Chapel in Wenatchee.
