Parlett, a prominent citizen and business man, and a former City Alderman, died at the Emergency Hospital. Death was due to a complication of diseases, bladder and kidney trouble being the predisposing cause. Mr. Parlett was sick scarcely two weeks, but almost from the first his condition was very grave. Besides the family physician and members of the hospital staff, Dr. Sinclair Spruill and Dr. C. Wier Mitchell, specialists from Baltimore, were called in attendance, but the case was hopeless, although everything possible was done for the sufferer. The patient lapsed into unconsciousness at intervals some few days before his death, and at times was in a state of coma. Before his death all of his twelve children were summoned here, and were at his bedside at intervals until the end came. Mr. Parlett was engaged in business here for many years and was one of the most enterprising and popular business men in Annapolis. David Oliver Parlett was born February 25, 1839, in Harford county, Maryland, and was the eldest son of George W. and Ariel Parlett. He had been actively engaged in business in Annapolis since 1868, and was a prominent member and office holder in the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, and the Red Men. He served several terms in the City Council and was, for many years, treasurer and trustee of the Maryland Avenue Methodist Episcopal Church. At the time of his death he was senior member of the firm of Parlett & Parlett, of this city. He is survived by his widow Mary L. Parlett and the following children: David W., of Washington, Ariel Elizabeth, wife of William R. Abbott, of Washington, Percival K., of Hyattsville, Ernest W., of Washington, Katherine E. wife of Thomas J. Linthicum, of Annapolis, Golda M., wife of B. F. Conrad, of Hagerstown, Morgan O., of Annapolis, H. Annettie, wife of Eppa H. Roane, of Norfolk, Va., George W. of Annapolis, Dr. Roger V., of U.S. Marine Hospital service, Baltimore, Annabel B., wife of Ensign George McMillen, U. S. Navy, and John R. of Annapolis. He is survived by twenty-seven grandchildren. His surviving brothers and sisters are George W. Parlett, of Wattingford, Pa., Taylor Parlett, of Philadelphia, James Parlett, of Philadelphia, Mrs. Robert Worrell, Norfolk, Va., and Claude R. Parlett, of Millersville, this county, with whom he was associated in the lumber and coal business. The funeral will take place tomorrow morning at 1:30 o'clock. The funeral will take place from the residence, 23 Randall street, the services being conducted by the Rev. Alexander Bielaski, pastor of Maryland Avenue Methodist Episcopal Church, assisted at the cemetery by the Rev. Walter G. McNeil, pastor of the First M.E. Church. The pallbearers wil be five sons-in-law and a grandson. The interment will be in St. Anne's cemetery in the family lot. The local lodge of Odd fellows, of which the deceased has been a member for nearly half a century, will attend the funeral and hold services at the grave. The flag at Independent Fire Company No. 2 Engine House is at half-mast, the deceased having been an honorary member of the city volunteer fire department. Mr. Parlett was a genial, affable gentleman of the old school, a man of high ideals and principles and one who lived up to them. He was a domestic man, being devoted to his family ties. In the business world he was recognized as a high type of business man whose integrity was unquestionable and whose word was his bond. In the death of David O. Critically Ill Mr. David O. Parlett Seriously Sick at Emergency Hospital Mr. David O. Parlett, a prominent local business man, senior member of the firm of Parlett & Parlett, lumber merchants, is seriously ill at the Emergency Hospital, where he has been ill for a week or more. Mr. Parlett is said to be suffering from an acute attack of bladder and kidney trouble. His condition yesterday was so serious that all of his children have been summoned here. Last night and part of yesterday Mr. Parlett was unconscious and did not recognize members of his family, except at brief intervals. No one but the attending physcian and nurse is allowed in the room, the wife and children of the patient being admitted only momentarily. No information as to Mr. Parlett's condition could be obtained by The Captial or correspondents of the Baltimore press, but it was ascertained at his home that Mr. Parlett is as low as can be, and there is no change his condition since yesterday.
