| Description | : | In 1875, David Vroman moved his family to Kearney Co., Nebraska from Illinois. The family traveled by covered wagon and arrived on April 1, 1875. David and Mary Ann settled down on a rented farm. On September 7, 1875, David and their oldest son, Thomas, were killed by Jake Williams. The murder took place on the neighboring farm of Thomas Burchell, where the Vromans had gone to water their horses. Neither David nor Thomas was armed.
